With land acquisitions increasingly getting trickier by the day across the country, the Gujarat government is planning to incentivise setting up of private industrial parks in the state. A government resolution (GR) is expected within a week that would announce a scheme to share the infrastructure cost of small industrial parks.

As H D Shrimali, additional industries commissioner, industries commissionerate, government of Gujarat said in Gandhinagar today, "We are planning to promote setting up of private industrial parks typically of the size of 20 hecatares or below. The government shall bear 50 per cent of the infrastructure cost within the parks." He added that a GR is expected within a week's time in this regard.

According to sources, the government assistance, however, would have a cap, of around Rs  20-25 crore. Shrimali refused to divulge any details on the same.

Meanwhile, the state government is also working on schemes that would boost local employment as well as entrepreneurship amongst locals. According to Shrimali, the government would provide payroll incentives to boost labour intensive industries as well as local employment. For any manufacturing unit that employs around 300 people, the government would pay Rs  1200 per month for men and Rs  1500 per month for women.

Also, as a part of its new industrial policy for 2015, the state government has decided to give Rs  10,000 per month for a year to young innovators and entrepreneurs as assistance to motivate them to focus on research as well as start their own business. "Around 2,500 entrepreneurs will get assistance during the policy period. There would be a state level committee that would approve the ideas," Shrimali added.
