An MoU has been submitted to Governor H R Bhardwaj seeking to advise the BJP government to order a CBI probe into irregularities in the Megacity project of Forest Minister C P Yogeshwar.

Megacity Site Members Welfare Association in the memorandum to Bhardwaj last week, a copy of which was released to media here on Friday, also wanted the government to confiscate 1,600 acres "illegally" acquired by Yogeshwar and his relatives from the funds from members of Vajragiri Township promoted by Megacity Project.

The land could be used for sites for members of Vajragiri Township scheme who have paid. Bhardwaj had on Wednesday told reporters he had no information about the project and he would initiate action if anybody complained about it.

Yogeshwar yesterday rejected allegations of irregularities in the Megacity project and accused JDS leader H D Kumaraswamy of levelling charges against him to tarnish his image. The association in a press release denied any affiliation with any political party and termed Yogeshwar's allegations as "misleading". Union Corporate Affairs Minister M Veerappa Moily has earlier this week said his ministry had submitted a report on the Mega City project 'irregularities' and action would be taken by the government.
