The Union minister of mine, B.K.Handique has directed the secretary, mines, Central government, to immediately resolve the issues of pay revision and other issues of Nalco Officers Association.

The minister’s direction came while Nalco Officers Association leaders called on him at New Delhi along with two MPs, Rudra Madhab Ray and Rudra Narayaan Pany. The office bearers who met the minister were the association president B.C.Ray, general secretary Arun Sahu vice president P.K.Mallick and joint secretary C.R.Besoi.

Nalco officers were due for pay revision with effect from January, 2007. They have been demanding for pay scale at par with NTPC.

According to Ray and Sahu, the Govt. of India had issued the circular to revise the pay scales and perks among others since last two years. In line with it, the company board had also approved a proposal for revision of pay scales in December, 2009. But the Ministry of Mines is yet to clear it.

Nalco, being a Navaratna company, is supposed to have more functional independence to implement such decisions, both the MPs pointed out.

The Officer Association also met the secretary and joint secretary, Mines, at their offices on the above issues and narrated about the position of Nalco as compared to other Navaratna companies. The pay packages of this Navaratna company has to be at par with other leading Public Sector Undertakings, otherwise the talented engineers shall not join the company which will later weaken the organization.

The association leaders pointed out that they had not resorted to any agitational method till date, but if such delay continued then they would be forced to launch stir.
