With a view to assisting the unemployed youth in Haryana, Haryana Overseas Placement Society has tied up with UNIJOB Consulting in New Delhi for placing job applicants abroad. |
Haryana Labour and Employment Minister Birender Singh said that 23 applicants from Haryana were provided contract letters to work in Dubai for a period of three years. |
Another 111 applicants would get their work permits shortly, he added. The minister said that the state has 11,20,021 registered unemployed of which 9,40,641 were educated. The Placement Society has set itself a target of sending about 5,000 people abroad with valid work permits. |
With dwindling income levels in the agriculture sector, it was imperative for the state government to facilitate alternative employment opportunities for youth. |
"The semi-skilled and unskilled people can easily be duped by the unregistered overseas placement agents. The government intends to help the less privileged section of the society", Singh said. |
According to the minister, Haryana has been getting Rs 50 crore per annum as remittance from its NRIs. But that is minuscule compared to what Punjab (Rs 15,000 crore) gets. |
The Haryana Overseas Placement Society was founded in January 2006 and the website was launched in July 2006. The society has received about 1,500 applications. |
The Overseas Placement bureau has received queries for specialists for health planning, nurses, masons, plumbers, carpenters and helpers for Dubai. |
