These include 500 acres of land allotted to Maruti Udyog Ltd in the industrial model township at Manesar for the automobile company's proposed plant that will have a capacity to produce more than 30,000 vehicles a year.

The corporation spokesman said the projects to be set up on these plots were likely catalyse domestic and foreign investments of around Rs 9,526.87 crore and generate employment for about 225,000 people directly or indirectly.

The prominent companies, besides Maruti Udyog Ltd, allotted land during this period were Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India Private Ltd, Suzuki Metal India Ltd, Denso, Norcool, Mitsubishi Electricals, Sunbeam Steel Ltd (a company of the Hero Honda group), Barco, Johnson Matthey (India) Private Ltd, Bazter India Ltd, Stanley, Munjal Showa and Mussashi Auto, and Nerolac Paints, he said.

He said the corporation had drawn up an ambitious plan to set up new industrial estates at Bahadurgarh, Manesar Phase-II and III, Barhi Phase-II, special economic zones in Gurgaon, at the Ambala-Chandigarh road and Yamunanagar. The process to acquire land measuring about 6,500 acres for these projects had already been initiated, he added.

The corporation had also set up an overseas manpower bureau to help skilled, semi-skilled and professionally qualified workers to get overseas jobs. It will provide database and arrange interviews to help foreign delegates in selecting candidates.
