Under the WBCIS, sum insured would be Rs 15,000 per acre and actuarial rate of premium would be 7 per cent plus service tax at the rate of 10.3 per cent. Of total premium amounting to Rs 1,158 per acre, the farmers would be required to pay the premium amounting to Rs 248 per acre whereas rest of the premium amount would be shared by central and state governments on 50:50 basis.
