The Haryana Cabinet today decided to amend the information technology policy to extend the deadline for exemption of stamp duty and registration fee for setting up infotech units to June 30, 2008.
A 90 per cent exemption in stamp duty and registration fees for the infotech industry will be allowed for facilities established, sold or leased from the date of notification up to December 31, 2003, 75 per cent after January 1, 2004 and up to June 30, 2005, 60 per cent after July 1, 2005 and up to December 31, 2006 and 45 per cent after January 1, 2007 and up to June 30, 2008.
The rebate will also be available for the sale or lease of land in a government approved software technology parks, infotech parks or cyber cities, and also in an industrial estates developed by a public authority, public sector organisations or private organisations.
The rebate will also be available to any organisation purchasing land for setting up infotech parks, software technology parks or cyber cities for which the required approval has been obtained from the town and country planning department with the condition that the concession be passed on to the IT units which purchase land in the park or city so developed. Bank guarantees will have to be obtained to avoid misuse of this incentive.
The items covered in the scope of information technology industry include computing devices, network control cards or memories, storage units like hard disks, floppy disks, optical disks and other digital storage devices, printers and output devices, networking products, power supplies to computer systems, electronic components and telecommunication equipment. The decision had been taken in view of the potential of the infotech sector to create employment opportunities and to boost trade and commerce, said an official.
The Cabinet also approved an amendment to Rule 22 of the Haryana (Prevention and Control of Water Pollution) Rules, 1978, and Haryana Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Rules, 1983, for charging of consent fee in respect of mining activities in the state. It was decided to link the fee for consent to establish an annual fee to operate the mining activities with dead rent or royalty.
