Haryana Sugar Mills Clear Dues

Unlike many other states, no payment was pending to the sugarcane farmers in Haryana. All private sugar mills, but for one, had paid the dues to the farmers.

The lone sugar mill had been asked to clear its dues by December 17, said Haryana Chief Minister Om Prakash Chautala.

Addressing a rally at Mokhra in Rohtak district today, Chautala said the state government had asked the central government to ensure the Sutlej-Yamuna Link Canal's completion if the Punjab government failed to complete it by January 15, as directed by the Supreme Court.

Chautala said he had urged Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee that if the Punjab government did not get the SYL canal completed, the Centre should get it completed by the Border Road Organisation or any other agency.
