Haryana to boost agriculture via community radio

To provide a fillip to the agriculture in Haryana, the state Government has decided to set up a network of Community Radio Stations in different districts of the State to provide timely and need-based information concerning agriculture sector Minister of State for Agriculture, Sukhbir Kataria said that to begin with, first such Community Radio Station has been set up in Hisar and has been made operational to provide latest information concerning farm sector.

Haryana’s Wheat productivity of 46.24 quintals per hectare and Mustard productivity of 18.69 quintals per hectare during 2010-11 is the highest in the country. Haryana is the second highest contributor of wheat to the Central food grain pool.

 

Haryana is also a leading State in the production of aromatic Basmati rice and more than 60 per cent export of Basmati rice is undertaken from Haryana State.Haryana is also a pioneer State in the adoption of resource conserving technologies, like, zero tillage technology. It has also been awarded “KRISHI KARMAN AWARD” during 2010-11 for the outstanding feat in wheat productively and production in the country.
