Close to 100 doctors, who are working in other states, have been asked to join back in their home state to meet the deficit of staff

Haryana Health Minister Anil Vij in a media interaction on Tuesday said the state would make a higher allocation in Budget 2015.

“The government hospitals are understaffed and many places have obsolete infrastructure. The state allocates only two per cent of the total budgetary allocation and 0.7 per cent of the gross domestic product to the health sector. I have already sent a proposal to the chief minister to revise funds earmarked for health, as education and health are the two main edifice of a strong society.” Vij said.

He ruled out public-private partnership model for the expansion of health services. He also said close to 100 doctors, who were working in other states, had been asked to join back in their home state to meet the deficit of staff.

The department is also mulling over outsourcing management for the government hospitals. The patient record will be sent put on line that would enable the patients to undertake treatment at any state-run hospital without retaining the record of treatment, as this is the main hiccup in the treatment of people living in hinterland.

“I have told all officials in my department to cut their coat according to their cloth, as I may not spare anyone for corrupt practices.” he added.
