The Delhi High Court yesterday reserved its judgement on pleas of BJP president L K Advani, former Union minister V C Shukla and others for quashing charges framed against them in the Rs 64-crore hawala scam after hearing a month-long debate over the issue.
Justice Mohammed Shamim reserved the order after asking the CBI as to how the investigating agency would lead evidence during the trial regarding proof of entries and the bribes allegedly paid to Advani and Shukla.
Counsel for CBI, Baljeet Singh, conceeded that there was no direct evidence to prove the entries or the bribes that were allegedly paid to the accused but reiterated that with the help of circumstantial evidence the CBI would be able to convince the trial court on the authenticity of the evidence.
