The agreement worth Euro 250 million spans over a period of 10 years and will cover water management with patented processes for India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal.

"Potable water is becoming a scarce commodity in the country. With Seghers' state-of-the-art technology available to us, we will be able to make a significant contribution to harnessing usable water from municipal as well as industrial waste," Manu Chhabria, chairman of Hdo, said.

He said that, in view of rapid industrial growth, the need for proper effluent treatment and regenerating water from waste water was growing. "Hdo sees diversification in synergistic areas as a key to growth. The company has created a special group to project capabilities in lucrative sectors like oil, gas, breweries and mechanical power transmission. The company sees tremendous opportunity in environmental pollution abatement related sectors, having business potential worth Rs 20 billion," Chhabria said.
