With the country as a whole getting the highest-ever rainfall in the third week of June, the deficiency in the monsoon precipitation has been wiped out.
This has also ended drought in most of the nine states that were reeling under its impact since July last. These nine states are Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Orissa, Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu.
The week ending June 25 recorded 57 per cent above normal rainfall in the country as a whole. This is among the highest-ever precipitation figures for a single week in June, according to meteorologists. With this, the cumulative monsoon precipitation this season has exceeded the normal level by 6 per cent.

The monsoon has already advanced into most parts of the country, barring parts of Punjab, Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir and Delhi. The total rainfall was below normal till second week of June. The deficiency has, however, been made up now.
