Himachal allows firms to sell hydro electric power

To encourage higher bidding, the Himachal Pradesh government has decided to allow independent power purchasers(IPPs) 100 per cent merchant sale of its hydro electric power without any condition of the government’s right of first refusal.

The state cabinet today also approved development of parking-cum-commercial complex identified at the resort town of Palampur in the Kangra valley on public private partnership(PPP) mode on revised terms and conditions.

The cabinet expressed concern over the inadequate and delayed supply of fertilisers,LPG and kerosene by the Central Government. It adopted a unanimous resolution to request the Centre to supply fertilisers on demand basis to the state on priority ahead of the cultivation season and to speed up the supply of LPG and restore the kerosene quota of the state. It also granted approval to free and concessional travel facilities by permitting free travel facilities in Himachal roadways buses to the staff of the state police.
