Himachal inks pact for new ambulance services

The Himachal government has decided to provide free drop home facility to all pregnant women and new born babies up to one year of age.

Under this scheme, 125 such ambulances would provide the facility to pregnant women after delivery and sick children up to the age of one year.

The state government and GVK EMRI signed an memorandum of understanding here on Tuesday to start 102 ambulance services under national health mission.

This service will be launched on Children's day on November 14 and it can be availed of by dialling toll free number 102.

State Health Minister Kaul Singh said one vehicle would be stationed at each of the 116 identified delivery points in the state, and additional nine vehicles would be deployed at delivery points with heavy load.
 

He said that the National Ambulance service 108 is already providing emergency services in the hill state.
