Himachal Pradesh annual Plan fixed at Rs 4,100 cr

Social sector, transport, communication and energy have been given priority

The Planning Commission on Wednesday finalised the annual Plan for Himachal Pradesh for the current financial year at Rs 4,100 crore, which is Rs 400 crore more than last year's Plan.

"Social sector, transport, communication and energy have been given priority by allocating 33 per cent, 21 per cent and about 15 per cent to these sectors, respectively," said Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh, after meeting the Planning Commission Deputy Chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia.

The state's economic growth rate has been fixed at nine per cent for the 12th Plan. During the Plan period, an additional 5,009 Mw of hydel power would be generated, of which 1,918 Mw has been fixed for the current financial year.
 

The project cost of the mid-Himalayan watershed project has been revised to Rs 596 crore from the earlier Rs 365 crore.

Wth the assistance of the Asian Development Bank, a Rs 428-crore infrastructure development programme has been started to improve basic tourist facilities in the state.

The chief minister requested the Union government to restore the industrial package to speed up industrialisation in the state.
