Himachal seeks Rs 3,000 crore package from Centre

The Himachal Pradesh government has urged the Centre to provide Rs 1,500-crore financial assistance to tide over the gap caused by underestimation of the committed liabilities by the 13 th Finance Commission.

An additional financial assistance of Rs 1,500 crore plan has been sought for the next finacial year.

The request was made today the state chief minister P.K.Dhumal by writing a letter to prime minister Manmohan Singh.

Dhumal said the state had a committed liability of over Rs 2,200 crore on account of salary and pension arrears from 2006 to 2009 caused by the implementation of the 6 th pay commission.

 

He said the commission had under estimated the state salary, pension and interest liabilities.

He said the state government would be at loss to conceptualise its annual plan for the next financial year due to the committed liablities.
