The Himachal Pradesh government is all set to float expressions of interest and invite tenders for setting up five star and seven star properties across the hill state.

Top official sources said the state’s tourism department had identified six spots in the state where these proposed luxurious hotels were to be built.

“Only proposals from companies who are already in the business of running luxurious hotels with the skill to build five-star and seven-star hotels will be considered,” sources said.

The six identified sites to build these projects are Baragaon near Manali, Jhatingri in Mandi district, Shoja in Kullu district, the Suketi Fossil Park in Sirmaur district, Nalagarh industrial town in Solan district and in Bilaspur.

Some of the leading hotel chains are learnt to be keen to enter Himachal’s growing tourism sector.

Currently due to few luxurious hotels in Himachal Pradesh, high- end tourists tend to ignore the hill state.
