An "International Home Deco Park" (IHDP) will soon be operational at the Taj Express Highway, Noida, to provide a global platform for the export of home decor goods. |
IHDP, the one-stop trade park for textile furnishings, will offer handicrafts, accessories to carpets, rugs and furniture. IHDP, located and operated from Noida, is an independent venture of Ashish Gupta and Aditya Gupta, partners in the Sharda Exports Group, a Meerut-based carpet-manufacturing and -exporting company. This is a $25-million 5-acre project. |
Aditya Gupta, co-founder and managing director, IHDP, said: "The Indian home decor industry is highly scattered with big companies and products around the country, but a buyer from abroad cannot explore business opportunities without travelling extensively. Similarly, exporters do not get exposed to potential buyers except through traditional means." |
A solution to this issue of lack of a permanent meeting point for buyers and exporters has resulted in the formation of IHDP, a trade and commerce hub dedicated to home décor. |
"Be it textiles from across the country, natural fibres from the south, handicrafts from Moradabad and Rajasthan, rugs from Varanasi or exotica from Kashmir- they will all be available under at IHDP,"added Gupta. |
Total Market of home decor is approximately $ 274 billion. China is the top exporter with 10.55 per cent of market share and $29 billion value. India stands on twelfth position with 1.21 per cent of market share and $3.3 billion value. |
Exporters such as Sarita Handa Exports (Gurgaon), Alok Industries (Mumbai), Bharat Silks(Bangalore), S Kumar's (Mumbai), Extra weave (Chertala), Sharda Exports (Meerut), Champo Carpets and Deepak Rugs-(Bhadoi), Handicrafts (Moradabad), Rajasthan Arts ( Jodhpur), Textrade (Mumbai), Interseas to name a few. |
The park is also equipped with infrastructure such as communication facilities, photography/ designing studio and a service centre for activities such as designing, packaging, testing and shipping. Hospitality services -includes travel desk, hotel reservations, concierge, restaurant / cafe, shuttle vans from hotels and the airports. |
"As a commercial hub, Noida throws up the finest options in site locations in Delhi and NCR region," Gupta said. |
