The Union home ministry is likely to review tomorrow the fresh schedule prepared by organisers of the Indian Premier League (IPL), the Twenty20 format cricket tournament during April-May.

On March 13, the ministry had asked the organisers — the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) — to further re-work on the dates and venues of the league matches in view of suggestions by state governments.

Sources said IPL commissioner Lalit Modi is likely to give the fresh schedule to Union Home Secretary Madhukar Gupta after which the ministry would finalise the event.

Holding this popular event has become a major cause of concern for the government as its original schedule will clash with the five-phase Lok Sabha elections, scheduled between April 16 and May 13.
