Horti Expo '04 on Jan 26-28

The Horticulture Expo-2004, an annual event being organised by the state horticulture department from January 26 to 28 will see particpation from more than half a dozen countries in the business and technology segment.

Several special shows are being planned on the sidelines of the exhibition like Ikebana, Bonsai. The expo to be organised at Hitex exhibition centre will show case the latest technologies aimed at bridging the gap between reasearch and adoption in the fields like tissu culture, organic farming and micro irrigation.

JSV Prasad, the commissioner horticulture department, said that the department was involving over 10,000 farmers from various parts of state in the fair to provide them with an over view of the latest technological advances and trends.

"Horticulture Expo is basically aimed at bringing together all the stake-holders in the sector so that exchange of information and knowledge about technological advancements can contribute to significant movement up the value chain," the commissioner said.
