House panel raps UPSC

Adopting a tough posture against the Union Public Service Commission, a Parliamentary committee has asked the Centre to deliberate at the highest level the situation in the commission which is projecting itself as "above the law of the land".

The UPSC had failed to appear before the committee on the issue of demands for grants during this fiscal prompting a flak from the panel.

"...Strangely the UPSC is projecting (itself) as above the law of the land," the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Personnel and Public Grievances said in its report tabled in Parliament this week.
