A housing scheme has been floated by the Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) for single women. This housing scheme--Pitambara Yojana""is for single women, widows and estranged women of over 40 years in Rajasthan.

The scheme claimed by the JDA as the first of its kind in the country is basically aimed to providing cheap residential plots to single women. This scheme will fulfill the dream of such women to have their own houses.

JDA Commissioner Jagdish Chandra said the scheme would be located in Kanota village, about 19 km from Jaipur on the Jaipur-Agra National Highway.

In all 500 plots of various sizes would be offered. He said the land would be offered at the rate of Rs 900 per square meter, which is the minimum reserve price.

The government land in this area commands a higher reserve price, but the JDA has reduced the price for women coming under the category. The plots would be available in various size of 45, 90, 120, and 200 square metres, he said.

The application for the allotment of these plots will start from March 25. The land allotment will be done on the basis of a lottery system.

Meanwhile, JDA has announced an exclusive township scheme on the Jaipur-Delhi National Highway. This is the first mini township scheme on the Jaipur-Delhi highway as all the earlier schemes had been announced on Jaipur-Ajmer or Jaipur-Tonk highways.

The township would be developed on 304 bighas of land owned by JDA in Gunawata village on Jaipur-Delhi NH8, around 20 km from the city.

According to a JDA official the move to develop a mini township on Jaipur-Delhi highway was taken to motivate private investment in the area.

JDA is expecting to generate an income of over Rs 150 crore through this project.

It may be mentioned that JDA earlier had organised roadshows in Delhi on February 22 for publicising its auctions in the city. Officials informed that during these road shows many Delhi-based developers and builders evinced interest to develop private township schemes in the pink city.

Sources in the JDA informed that several big firms like ' had also sought land for their various projects, which they want to launch in the city.
