Along with stamps and other post-related stationery, post offices in Himachal Pradesh could soon start selling tea leaves to customers.

Sources in the postal department said this scheme would first be introduced in the post offices across the twelve districts of the state and then in other post offices.

"The Una post office will start selling Assam gold tea in the next few days and we have already placed an order," said Una Postmaster Pawan Kumar.

A 250 gram packet of the Assam gold tea will be sold for Rs 50, which is slightly more expensive than that available in the open market, claimed officials.

Officials of the postal department said it would charge the tea company 7 per cent commission for selling their product.
