HUDA makes record investment of Rs 2,522 cr in 4 yrs

Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) has made a record investment of Rs. 2521.90 crore during last four years (March 2005 to June 2009) as against  an investment of Rs. 2481.16 crore in 28 years (June 1977 to February 2005).    

Yet another record of HUDA is of an all time high investment of Rs. 878.61 crore on development  works during the financial year 2008-09, according to an official release here today.

The budget of HUDA for development works during the current financial year is Rs.925 crore out of which Rs. 183.47 crore have so far been incurred on various development works.

 

This was revealed at a meeting  presided over by Chief Minister, Bhupinder Singh Hooda here today to review the development works undertaken by Town and Country Planning Department and HUDA.

While reviewing the major works completed during the tenure of  the present Congress Government, the Chief Minister appreciated the development made by HUDA, but stressed the need to ensure the quality of construction material.

He also reviewed major development works being undertaken during the current financial year and these included construction of 7352 low cost dwelling units in various urban estates of Haryana at a total cost of about Rs. 251 crore.

This scheme would benefit slum dwellers and discourage the growth of unauthorised colonies.It was informed that construction of these dwelling units was in advanced stage and all these would be completed by December 2009. A maximum of 3080 dwelling units were being constructed at Faridabad followed by 2072 in Panchkula, 1640 in Ambala and 560 at Gurgaon.

HUDA would construct 15,311 more low cost dwelling units in various urban estates at a cost of Rs. 466.98 crore as land for this has already been acquired. In addition to it, 14,850 more such units would be constructed at a cost of Rs. 448.47 crore and the land for this project was in the process of acquisition.    

Hooda also reviewed the setting up of Rajiv Gandhi Education City in district Sonipat.

It was informed that 31 applications have been received in response to the expression of interest invited from eligible organisations to set up educational institutions and universities and the interviews of the applicants were being held.

While reviewing the special repair of roads undertaken at Gurgaon, it was informed that a total of 152 km master and internal roads were repaired as these were damaged due to heavy rains last year.
