Sources said HUDCO had in- principle sanctioned nearly Rs 900 crore for development programmes in the infrastructure sector. The state government has sought the HUDCO loan for projects in sectors like power, sanitation, solid waste management, communication, entertainment, bridge construction etc.
HUDCO has reportedly told the Jharkhand government to submit viable projects in the infrastructure sector for further funding.
The state government has planned to set up 12 urban building clusters and 21 rural housing complexes, along with five model villages and 10 towns under the small and medium town development programme.
HUDCO sources said loans from HUDCO were not a problem as long as the projects were viable.
Jharkhand emerged as a new state nearly three years ago and one major public project may be a new capital city. However, selection of a site for the new capital was still some way off.
The state a government has intensified its search for a proper location for the new capital, sources said.
