Hydel power project in Chhindwara gets MP govt's nod

Madhya Pradesh government has accorded green signal to set up a 15 megawatt (Mw) hydel power project on river Sitareva in Chhindwara district.

The project, which will come up in the private sector, would be developed at Ghumarcamp on Sitareva, a tributary of Narmada river, an official release said here today.

A decision in this regard was taken at a meeting of the Narmada Control Board chaired by the State Chief Minister, Shivraj Singh Chouhan here yesterday.

The meeting also accorded revised sanction of Rs 482.80 crore for Punasa Lift Irrigation Project in Khandwa district.

Under the project, land measuring 35,008 hectare of 110 villages of Khandwa district is proposed to be irrigated through the Indira Sagar Reservoir.

 

The possible beneficiaries of this project include 25 per cent tribals, it said adding the work of land acquisition for the project is in progress.

A sanction of Rs 32.11 crore was also given for preparing a detailed project report for survey of minor and medium irrigation projects in the entire Narmada basin using the satellite imagery techinique at the the meeting, the release said.
