I-T sleuths raid IAS officer's house

The Income Tax department today conducted simultaneous raids at seven places in Chhattisgarh including the residence of a senior Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer here.

The raids were conducted at the residence of Agriculture Secretary B L Agrawal and the business establishments owned by his relatives.

An official statement issued by the IT department here said that raids were conducted at the establishments of a group involved in steel business here this morning.

A team of 75 officials and sleuths from Raipur, Jabalpur and Bhopal were conducting the raids, the statement added.

The officials, however, did not disclose further details. Sources said that the raid at the residence of IAS official was necessitated following his reported investment in the business establishments of his relatives.

 

The raids were conducted at the premises of Agrawal's two brothers and father besides their tax consultant Sunil Agrawal, sources said.
