ICAI to set up Centre of Excellence

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has proposed to set up a Centre for Excellence in Bhubaneswar.

“ICAI currently has around 600 members in Orissa and we intend to set up a Centre of Excellence in Bhubaneswar. We have sought the cooperation of the state government to allot land to us”, said Amarjit Chopra, president of ICAI.

He was addressing reporters on the occasion of the two-day national conference of the Institute of Chartered Accountants on 'New Paradigms of Competitiveness'. The conference is being held on November 13-14.

This is set to be the first Centre of Excellence of ICAI in the eastern region.

 

The state finance minister Prafulla Chnadra Ghadai who was present at the occasion, has assured to provide land for the proposed centre.

The topics chosen for the conference are Contemporary Issues in Auditing – Special Emphasis to Reporting compliance in the changed Environment, Wealth Creation – A Professional Perspective, Direct Tax Code Bill 2010 – Changes in Conceptual Approach and Corporate Fraud & Forensic Audit to name a few .
