The state owned Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation of Orissa (Idco) has allotted 34074.04 acres of land, both government and private land, to 53 out of 88 companies that have entered into Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the state government.
In toto, these 53 companies had applied for 61542.41 acres while the Industrial Promotion and Investment Corporation of Orissa (Ipicol) had appraised their land requirement at 57034.98 acres.
Out of 34074.04 acres of land allotted to these industries, 24158.41 acres are private land with the remaining 9915.62 acres being government land.
As many as 37 steel companies have been given 20431.30 acres of land which includes 13725.09 acres of government land and 6706.21 acres private land. Together, these steel companies had applied for 38357.73 acres of land while Ipicol had appraised their land requirement at 31232.15 acres.
Amongst the steel companies, Idco has so far allotted 3738.59 acres to Jindal Steel & Power at Kerajang in Angul district, 1530.52 acres to Bhushan Steel at Meramandali in Dhenkanal district, 3040.39 acres to Tata Steel at Duburi in Jajpur district, 1375.53 acres to JSL Ltd at Duburi, 568.91 acres to Posco India at Kujang in Jagatsinghpur district and 525 acres to Visa Steel at Duburi.
In the aluminium sector, Idco has allotted 7246.47 acres to two companies- Vedanta Aluminium (VAL) and Aditya Alumina. The corporation has allotted 1831.82 acres to VAL at Burkhamunda near Jharsuguda for its alumina smelter and captive power plant. Similarly, the company has been allocated 2050.94 acres at Lanjigarh in Kalahandi district for its alumina refinery.
