IGCAR director gets intl award

The International Institute of Welding (IIW) and the International Standards Organisation (ISO) have conferred the 'Jaeger Lecture Award' upon Baldev Raj, director of Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research (IGCAR), Kalpakkam, according to a press release from the Department of Atomic Energy.
 
IIW is a premiere body consisting of experts from over 30 countries that formulates welding directions and policies for advancement of welding science and technology.
 
Raj is the first Indian to receive this award and has been given the award in recognition of his research and contributions to the science and technology of welding and 'hard facing'.
 
In addition, Raj has also become the recipient of the 'Lifetime Achievement Award' for the year 2004, given by the Indian Welding Society for his contributions to the field of welding science and technology.
