The Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore, (IIM-B) is expected to take a decision on the fee cut issue tomorrow.

The former chairman of Hindustan Lever, S M Dutta, who returns from London early tomorrow, will announce the decision of the IIM-B board of governors.

The announcement by Dutta, who is the chairman of the board, is keenly awaited. Last month, the board had authorised Dutta to draft a final resolution on the fee reduction issue.

What Dutta has to say will also be interesting in the light of the fact that today Y C Deveshwar, the chairman of the IIM-Calcutta board, has been criticised by faculty members for toeing the ministry's line.

"Deveshwar could have followed the example of N R Narayana Murthy, chairman, IIM-Ahmedabad, who has shown wisdom in reconciling the concerns of different stakeholders . We can also learn from him the merit in moving judiciously," says the resolution passed by the faculty members.
