With the Indian Institute of Management, Kolkata and Lucknow announcing a fee hike from the coming academic session, IIM, Kozhikode, will also take up the issue for a detailed discussion during its next board meeting, IIM-K sources said today.

"The issue will certainly come for discussion during the next board meeting scheduled to be held by this month-end but various factors for and against hiking the fee will be evaluated," the sources told PTI here.

While the board would take cognisance of the fact that other IIMs in the country had already declared a fee hike, at the same time it would also take into account other aspects like the economy factor and difficulties associated with raising funds for the students, they said.

The students of the outgoing batch were given concession in the second year fee, bringing it down from Rs 3 lakh to Rs 2.65 lakh after they complained of inadequate time to raise funds, the sources said.

However, the concession would not be extended to the current batch of students entering the second year of course.

The sources said the placement process at the Institute was nearing completion and several public sector companies had come for hiring the students.
