IIP up 6.7% in July |

The index of industrial production (IIP) moved up 6.7% in July 2005, and the index stood at 212.1 points, according to data released by the Central Statistical Organisation of the ministry of statistics and programme implementation. "The indices of industrial production for the mining, manufacturing and electricity sectors for the month of July 2005 stood at 146.9, 224.3, and 184.1, respectively, with corresponding growths of (-)0.4%, 8.3% and (-)1.2% as compared to July 2004. "The cumulative growth between April-July, 2005-06 over the corresponding period of 2004-05 in the three sectors have been 3.1%, 10.4% and 5.3%, respectively with the overall growth in the general index being 9.3%," the release added. As many as 13 of the 17 two-digit industry groups have shown positive growth during the month of July 2005 as compared to the corresponding month of the previous year.
