The Indian Merchants' Chambers (IMC) is planning to set up two forums of affiliated associations. While one will be dealing with issues related with the manufacturing sector and commodities trade, the other will be overseeing the issues of the service and transport sectors.

These forums will be headed by Suresh Kotak, past president of IMC, according to a notice issued today.

These forums would collect data regarding various trades, commission industry analysis, make representations to the government on the issues related to the industry and trade represented by the forums.

Though economic reforms started way back in 1991, small and medium industries and domestic trade has largely been untouched by the process.

The small and medium level entrepreneurs still have to comply with complex tax laws, controls and regulations and these forums would take up these issues on behalf of them.
