Emphasising the need for finding a balance between development and environment protection, Water Resources Minister Salman Khurshid today said the country cannot ignore ecological concerns for its growth.

"India's growth cannot be oblivious of its ecology. For our growth to be sustainable, we must make sure that our ecology survives," he said at a function here.

Highlighting the need for providing affordable and quality services to the people, Khurshid said one needs to build institutions in such a manner that one can say that we provide quality services to our citizens on affordable rates.

"How do we make sure that people on the streets are not marginalised? For that to happen, we need to build our institutions in such a manner that we can say we provide quality services to our citizens at affordable rates," he said.

"There are a lot of areas which we have not fully explored yet. For instance, we still have not explored insurance in health sector. However, we have made significant start in this sector and we are further going to increase our presence in this field to provide quality medical services to our citizens on affordable rates," he said.
