India's clean fund corpus to swell

The government expects to collect Rs 10,000 crore under the Clean Energy Fund by 2015, through an imposition of cess on coal, the Economic Survey has said. It has made suggestions with regard to climate financing in a chapter on 'Sustainable Development and Climate Change'. The chapter reflecting the growing challenges of sustainable development and climate change has been included in this annual document for the first time. The government had started the clean energy fund in 2010 by imposing a cess on coal at an effective rate of Rs 50 a tonne.
