Indian and Singapore armies will hold joint artillery exercise at Deolali, Maharashtra, later this month. The Singapore Army will be represented by over 100-member contingent, a defence ministry spokesman said.

Singapore had recently signed a long-term military agreement with India which established even stronger military ties between the two Asian nations. Singapore has also leased out a military in Eastern India.

The Singapore Armed Forces comprises three branches: the Singapore Army, the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) and the Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN).

The SAF relies heavily on a large pool of conscripted soldiers in the active and reserve forces. It is capable of mobilizing over 3,00,000 reserves and has an active force of 72,500 for the defence of Singapore.
