Reeling under a fresh series of terror attempts, India is set to use the platform of the upcoming Saarc summit to garner support from its neighbours in the fight against terrorism. According to foreign ministry sources, the current security situation including the Indo-Pak tensions and situation in Afghanistan will be the ‘dominating issues’ in the summit.
The 15th Saarc summit is starting from 2 August at Colombo, Sri Lanka.
Foreign office today announced that Prime Minister Mahmohan Singh will hold an exclusive meeting with Sri Lankan Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapakse. PM is also scheduled to meet Pakistani Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani at the sidelines of the summit among other leaders.
The Saarc summit is expcted to finalise the draft for mutual legal assistance treaty.
