Former US President Bill Clinton, a front ranking Indian community leader Niranjan Shah and a group of Indian and American corporate executives together raised funds for the victims of terrorist attacks in the US and for the devastating earthquake victims in Gujarat.

The fund-raiser dinner in Chicago last week, under the auspices of American India Foundation (AIF), was attended by over 400 persons.

They collectively raised funds to the tune of Rs 2 crore to be disbursed equally among victims of man-made calamity (terrorist attacks) and natural calamity (earthquake).

The fund-raiser was held at Four Seasons in Chicago and Bill Clinton was the keynote speaker. In his address, he praised Indian Americans for their contributions and said that reaching out to the victims of the recent terrorist attacks was a shining example of their determination to assist the needy even in their adoptive land.
