Indira Peace Prize goes to Gates Foundation

The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation has won the Indira Gandhi Prize for Peace, Disarmament and Development for 2007. The award, instituted by the Indira Gandhi Memorial Trust, is adjudicated by an international jury.
 
According to an official statement by the Indira Gandhi Memorial Trust, the foundation has been awarded for "its pioneering work around the world and in India in particular especially in helping fight disease, illness and poor health conditions in the developing world."
 
The award ceremony will take place in New Delhi in the first week of November.
