Indo-Bangla foreign secretary-level talks next month

India and Bangladesh will hold three-day foreign secretary-level talks on peaceful border management and cooperation in water resources and trade next month, officials said.

"The entire issues of our bilateral relationship will be discussed at the meeting to be held on June 25-26," Bangladesh foreign secretary Touhid Hossain said adding that the Indian side would be led by his counterpart Shiv Shankar Menon.

The meeting agenda would include security, peaceful border management, cross-border illegal movement, cooperation in water resources, economic and trade cooperation, and consular and cultural exchanges, officials said.

A review of the progress in the decisions made at the latest meeting and related issues may also come up in the talks, they told the New Age daily.

In the last foreign secretary-level meeting in New Delhi in June 2005, both the sides reaffirmed their commitment not to allow their territory to be used for any activities detrimental to the interests of the countries.
