Welcoming the meeting between the Foreign Ministers of India and Pakistan, US today said that the talks between the two South Asian neighbours are good for the region.

"(India-Pak talks are) always a positive step. Always a productive or constructive in our view to see the two countries talking," State Department spokesman Mark Toner, told reporters at his daily news conference.

"It's constructive for the region, it's constructive for both those countries. I'm not aware of what came out of them specifically, but more broadly, I can say that we always view that kind of dialogue as constructive," Toner said in response to a question.

Toner said he is not aware of any direct or indirect role played by the US in the peace talks between India and Pakistan.
