Industrial exhibitions in Punjab conclude

The three day "Punjab Industrial Exhibition", 2006, and the "Vendor Development Programme" in Mohali concluded yesterday. Organised by the Small Industries Service Institute and the Mohali Industries Association, the exhibition drew around 10,000 visitors.
 
About 130 small and medium enterprises from Punjab, Delhi and Himachal Pradesh participated in the event, showcasing engineering items from sheet metal components, steel forgings, fasteners and bath room fittings, besides electronic items, telecom equipment and rubber and hosiery products and machinery.
 
The exhibition, which was held after a span of seven years, would be made an annual affair, Balbir Singh, president, Mohali Industries Association said. He further added, "According to a survey which is underway in the Mohali industrial town, it has been found that there are more than 900 SSIs. Our efforts will be to bring them on a national platform and such exhibition will be means to achieve the goal."
 
Commenting on the business queries generated during the exhibition he said it would not be possible to quantify the order received by exhibitors or sale generated. However, for now, Mohali Industries Association is demanding a permanent display centre in Mohali.
 
"Mohali is the gateway to Punjab industries, and we have asked the state machinery to give us a place. We will take the responsibility to manage it," said Singh.
