The Mohali Industries Association has complained against unscheduled power cuts by the Punjab State Electricity Board. |
This followed a recent meeting of representatives from small- and medium-scale industries in Mohali, where the industrialists expressed concern over unscheduled cuts hitting production. |
"There was no power from 8.00 am on June 24 (Saturday) till 12 noon on June 26 (Monday). This cut is apart from the peak load restrictions. These power cuts are ruining industry in Mohali," said Balbir Singh, president, Mohali Industries Association. |
Chief Minister Amarinder Singh had promised Mohali would be free of power cuts. Mohali recently got the status of a district. |
"The consensus among industrialists was that if their minimum power requirements were not met, they would have no other option but to file a complaint with the Punjab Electricity Regulatory Authority and resort to agitation," Balbir Singh added. |
The association is demanding that the industry be given a minimum continuous power supply of at least 12 hours for 6 days a week. It wants no powercuts during the day time "" from 7.00 am to 7.00 pm. Further, the power cuts should not be for more than 24 hours at one go. |
"We are also demanding that there should be no discrimination of supply of power phase-wise within Mohali. All the industries should be treated at par,"said Singh. |
He further added that industries should be allowed to install diesel generators until the PSEB was able to meet the power demand fully. |
"There should not be any payment of royalty to the government if any industry produces its own power requirements,"he said. |
