Industry in Punjab has decided not to be taken in by tall promises made by political parties, at least before the elections this time. |
Instead of getting swayed by verbal assurances by various political parties, industry representatives have decided to videotape these promises, for which they will hold a meeting with party representatives. |
Industry representatives have prepared a questionnaire pertaining to problems they have been facing. |
Representatives of political parties who want industry's support will be required to give a clear view on the issues raised with a "firm commitment". |
Speaking to Business Standard, P D Sharma, president, Apex Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said, "Our experience with the ruling government has not been good. They failed to keep their promises, which is why we have decided not to take risk this time. We have written to the presidents of major political parties, inviting them for a discussion on January 17." |
"Associations from across the state will participate in the meeting. "The opinions of parties and their plan of action pertaining to these issues will help us decide whom to support," added Sharma. |
