Inflation down to 5.42 per cent

 The dip was partly on account of the high base effect of the last year. The inflation in the corresponding week last year was 6.55 per cent.

 The wholesale price index-based inflation fell to a 33-week low because of lower prices of  essential items like vegetables, fruits, tea, edible oil and naphtha. The inflation level, a measure of rise in prices, was 5.6 per cent in the previous week.
