After six weeks of decline, inflation rose marginally by 0.11% to 4.33% during the week ended June 11. The point-to-point inflation based on the wholesale price index (WPI) rose from the previous week's 4.22%. The inflation was at 6.58% in the year-ago period. The WPI rose by 0.1% to 192.6 points due to costlier primary articles even as fuel and manufactured goods prices stood unchanged. The index was at 184.6 points in the year-ago period. The government revised upwards the inflation to 5.91% during the week ended April 16 as compared to the provisional estimate of 5.64%. The WPI stood corrected at 191.7 points as against the provisional level of 191.2 points. |
