Inflation moves up to 4.55%

Inflation based on the wholesale price index (WPI) rose marginally to 4.55% for the week ended December 3 from 4.54% in the previous week due to the increase in prices of food items.

The WPI rose 0.2% to 197.8 points during the week ended December 3 from 189.2 points a year ago. The WPI-based inflation was at 7.07% in the year-ago period.

The government revised upward the inflation to 4.88% for the week ended October 8 from the provisional level of 4.62% while the WPI stood corrected at 197.7 points as against the earlier estimate of 197.2 points.
