With the Sensex crossing the 12,000-mark on Friday, and gaining over 100 points in morning deals today, will the index be able to cross its intra-day all-time high of 12,671 hit in May this year?

While the index is moving towards a new peak, two index stocks have able to beat the index in terms of scaling its peak.

The table shows the peak the Sensex hit in 2006, which is also its all-time high. Column Peak shows the highs touched by the Sensex 30 shares this year, which, in most cases, is also their individual life-time highs.

Infosys, which has a weightage of 10.43% in the Sensex, has been scaling new highs since the last one month. It closed at Rs 1808.95 on Friday after scaling a new intra-day high of Rs 1829.

Bharti Airtel touched its all-time high level of Rs 449.90 on Friday, and closed at an all-time high of Rs 446.

Maruti, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, TCS, Reliance and Grasim are 3-5% away from their peaks touched earlier this year.

On the other hand, Reliance Energy is a whopping 51% away from its peak followed by Hindalco (48%) and Tata Steel (35%).
